A Sense of Place is a free family event that brings together choirs from local primary schools in Music for the Many’s inter-school choir, children from Masjid-e-Hamza Mosque and Annapurna Indian Dance in a joyful celebration on the final day of the Festival. The event will use music, dance, drumming and sacred verse from different cultural traditions to explore stories about our ideas of place. Annapurna Indian Dance will perform extracts from Soldiers of the Empire, a dance, music and storytelling performance, paying homage to the forgotten Indian soldiers who fought for Britain during the First World War.
Music for the Many offers equal opportunities in music education for the children of Todmorden. The charity launched in February 2018 and provides free music lessons and instruments for primary school children in Todmorden.
Annapurna Indian Dance aims to introduce new audiences to the rich artistic and cultural heritage of India through performances of graceful and rhythmic Indian dances and storytelling. The company is committed to working in the community with people of all ages and abilities.
The event includes a RefuTEA Party with voluntary donations to St Augustine’s Centre in Halifax and the Refugee Council.
