Whilst the landscape in Todmorden is ever changing with new buildings appearing and old ones being demolished, the inhabitants of a town are often overlooked when describing or chronicling it. The people who have lived and worked in Todmorden are its true history — living history, and they provide a unique identity and story for the town.
Todmorden People was published in 2015 and edited by Roger Birch’s son Daniel. The exhibition, which is based on the book of Roger Birch’s photographs, celebrates Todmorden’s unique identity through the photographer’s portraits of local people taken during the last quarter of the 20th century.
